New OTT Releases This Week (July 22-28, 2024)

After a series of blockbuster OTT releases this month, the last week of July 2024 is closing off with a horror thriller, gangster drama, comedy series, and more. From Balika Vadhu’s Avika Gor stepping into a whole different genre to Manoj Bajpayee’s 100th film, this week’s OTT releases have it all.

Furthermore, apart from the digital debuts, there’s a special mention of a highly anticipated Tamil movie theatrical release as well. Here’s a detailed look at the new releases for the week of July 22–28, 2024.

Bhaiyya Ji

Release Date: July 26, 2024

Streaming Platform: ZEE5

After a successful theatrical run, Manoj Bajpayee’s milestone film, Bhaiyya Ji, is making its way to ZEE5. Premiering on July 26, 2024, this action thriller marked Bajpayee’s hundredth film and left audiences in awe with its gripping storyline and powerful performances.

In the upcoming OTT release Bhaiyya Ji, Bajpayee plays Ram Charan Tripathi, a retired but feared criminal whose life is turned upside down when his brother is killed. This tragic event ignites a fierce quest for justice against the powerful Gujjar, leading to a thrilling plot filled with vengeance and drama.

As Manoj Bajpayee aptly put it, “The people of North India will get their representation on the screen, their culture, the relationship they are very familiar with, the culture that belongs to them. Bhaiyya ji me hamare mitti ki khusboo hain.” Directed by Apoorv Singh Karki, this film also features Zoya Hussain, Suvinder Vicky, and Jatin Goswami.

Bloody Ishq

Release Date: July 26, 2024

Avika Gor, best known for her role in Balika Vadhu, stars in the upcoming horror thriller Bloody Ishq, premiering on Disney+ Hotstar on July 26, 2024. Directed by Vikram Bhatt, a genus of horror known for films like 1920, Raaz, and Haunted, Bloody Ishq was initially intended for a theatrical release but shifted to a direct-to-OTT strategy.

The film follows Neha (played by Gor), who suffers from amnesia following a traumatic accident. Seeking recovery, she and her husband (played by Vardhan Puri) move to a secluded house on a remote Scottish island. However, their peaceful retreat soon turns sinister as Neha begins experiencing supernatural occurrences.

As she grapples with her fragmented memories, Neha must uncover the truth before it’s too late. Bhatt’s direction, coupled with Gor’s impactful performance, ensures that this OTT release will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

Chutney Sambar

Release Date: July 26, 2024

Streaming Platform: Disney+ Hotstar

For those in the mood for comedy, Chutney Sambar is gearing up to premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on July 26. Directed by Radha Mohan, this six-episodic series features comedian Yogi Babu in the lead role and promises a delightful mix of humor and heart.

The series centers around the Amudha Cafe, known for its delicious sambar, encountering a crisis when the patriarch, played by Nizhalgal Ravi, falls ill. During this turbulent time, they discover the rival Yogi Babu character’s roadside eatery, Amudha Unavagam, famed for its secret chutney recipe. 

The two families decide to exchange their chutney and sambar recipes, leading to a series of comedic events. This OTT release also features Nizhalgal Ravi, Vani Bhojan, Chandramouli, Ilango Kumaravel, Nandhini, and Nithin Sathyaa.

Raayan in theatres (July 26, 2024)

Though not an OTT release, Tamil star Dhanush’s highly anticipated movie Raayan is worth mentioning. Hitting theaters on July 26, 2024, this film marks Dhanush’s 50th project and his second directorial project. The trailer depicts Raayan, played by Dhanush, in a fierce battle for survival. The film begins with a wounded Raayan and includes a compelling monologue about the intelligence and cunning nature of wolves, hinting at the film’s gripping narrative. 

Apart from these Indian OTT and theatrical releases, this week also includes some international releases as well. It includes One Life, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, Elite season 8, Which Brings Me to You, Tokyo Swindlers, and others.
