What is The Monkey King about?
The film begins with the birth of a monkey from a stone atop a tall mountain. However, it ends up disturbing the Jade Emperor who orders the death of the cub. A Buddha stops him and decides to find out his purpose. The Monkey finds the troop of the monkeys but is unable to fit in due to his misbehavior. Later, his adventures cause a demon to grab one of the cubs for food. This leads to the monkey getting banished from the troop. However, he decides to prove his worth by fighting the demon.
