Was Donald Trump Golfing Yesterday After the Shooting?

Rumors have surfaced claiming former U.S. President Donald Trump was golfing yesterday at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey. This is after he was escorted from a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, July 13, following a shooting incident. He sustained a gunshot wound during the attack.

Here is everything that is currently known about whether Trump played golf after the shooting.

Did Donald Trump play golf after the shooting?

No, it appears that Trump did not play golf after the shooting. He received treatment at a local hospital in Pennsylvania before flying to Newark, New Jersey. There, he was photographed descending from his plane. According to multiple outlets, including CBS New York, Trump did visit the golf course for recovery before leaving for the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The speculation about Trump playing golf after the alleged assassination attempt first surfaced after Republican Senator Mike Lee shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) which showed Trump smiling and waving as he drove a golf kart. “Gets shot. Gets up the next day. Goes golfing,” he wrote in the caption, which seemed to imply the video was filmed after the shooting. Lee later clarified in the comment section of the original post: “The video was uploaded today but *not* taken today.”

Further, a screenshot of a Reddit post circulating online claimed that Trump was spotted at his golf club.

The poster was purportedly made by a cart attendant at Bedminster. However, this was widely refuted. Political journalist Laura Loomer was one of these voices. “Not sure why so many people are posting posts saying President Trump played golf today, but I can 100% confirm he didn’t play golf today,” she posted on X. “Anyone saying that he did is pushing misinformation. Donald Trump flew to Milwaukee today from New Jersey, and it was raining in New Jersey. The videos of him on the golf course are old.”

Additionally, Politico reported that the club was closed on Sunday.

Donald Trump suffered an injury to the upper right ear during the shooting and one person who was in attendance at the rally was killed, while two others were critically injured. The Secret Service killed the suspected shooter, 20-year-old, who was named as Thomas Matthew Crooks.
