As per USA Today, Morning Joe was preempted to provide uninterrupted coverage of the breaking news following the shooting at Donald Trump’s rally on Saturday. The spokesperson explained that the decision was part of a coordinated effort to provide thorough coverage across NBC News, MSNBC, and NBC News NOW due to the serious and complex nature of the story.

However, CNN suggested citing a source that MSNBC chose to air news coverage instead of the usual morning opinion show to avoid the risk of a guest making a potentially damaging comment on live television in the wake of the shooting. Reportedly, MSNBC has dismissed CNN’s report.
