Is Morning Joe Canceled? Will It Return?

MSNBC’s popular show Morning Joe unexpectedly did not air on Monday, the day the 2024 Republican National Convention began. This unexpected absence has led to widespread speculation among fans, with some questioning if the popular show has been canceled. Amid the recent reports, fans are also wondering if the decision is connected to the assassination attempt on former U.S. President Donald Trump. Here is everything to know about whether Morning Joe is canceled and if it will return.

Has Morning Joe been canceled?

Morning Joe is not canceled.

As per USA Today, Morning Joe was preempted to provide uninterrupted coverage of the breaking news following the shooting at Donald Trump’s rally on Saturday. The spokesperson explained that the decision was part of a coordinated effort to provide thorough coverage across NBC News, MSNBC, and NBC News NOW due to the serious and complex nature of the story.

He said, “As we continue to cover this story into the week, the networks will continue to cross simulcast … so there is one news feed covering this developing situation.” (via The Washington Post)

However, CNN suggested citing a source that MSNBC chose to air news coverage instead of the usual morning opinion show to avoid the risk of a guest making a potentially damaging comment on live television in the wake of the shooting. Reportedly, MSNBC has dismissed CNN’s report.

Will Morning Joe air on Tuesday?

Morning Joe will resume its regular schedule from Tuesday, July 16, 2024, onwards.

Morning Joe’s official account on X (formerly Twitter) announced that the show will resume its normal schedule on Tuesday. However, it’s uncertain if the show will address the attempted assassination of Donald Trump or their Monday hiatus.

Hosted by Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, Morning Joe usually invites guests from different spheres to discuss current events. The show typically airs on weekday mornings from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.
