The highly anticipated sequel, Indian 2, continues to draw audiences to theaters. Despite mixed reviews from both audiences and critics, the film achieved impressive earnings on its opening day. While several sequences kept many on the edge of their seats, others did not resonate with them. When will Indian 2 be released on OTT?
Recent reports from Filmibeat suggest that Netflix has acquired the streaming rights for Indian 2. Additionally, the prominent Tamil channel Kalaignar TV has secured its satellite rights. However, the makers have not officially announced the exact release date of Indian 2 for streaming on OTT. Following the trend in South Indian cinema, the film is expected to be released on OTT 45–60 days after its theatrical release.
The Kamal Haasan starrer was released on July 12, 2024, in theaters across multiple languages. Due to its slow pace before the interval, the film initially received negative reviews. In response, the filmmakers decided to reduce the runtime by 20 minutes. Originally, Indian 2 had a runtime of 3 hours, but it has now been trimmed to 2 hours and 40 minutes.
Regarding its box office performance, Indian 2 opened with $3 million. On the second day, the film’s collection declined by 28.91%, amounting to $2.1 million. This brings its total net collection in India to $7 million to date. Globally, the film has gathered around $13 million.
Despite receiving mixed reviews, the makers are planning to release another installment, titled Indian 3. A glimpse of it has been attached at the end of Indian 2.
