In their final semester in high school, Lee Hong-Ju (Kim So-Hyun) builds up courage and expresses her love to Kang Hu-Yeong (Chae Jong-Hyeop). However, she ends up with heartbreak and becomes doubtful about love-related affairs in the future. Years later, Hong-Ju has a sudden encounter with her first love at a cafe. One encounter can be a coincidence, but fate continues to bring them to one place multiple times. Will Hu-Yeong reciprocate Hong-Ju’s feelings this time? Only time will tell.

Serendipity’s Embrace is based on a Naver webtoon titled Is it Fate? (a.k.a. Is it a Coincidence?). Nam Ji-Eun has written it, and Kim In-Ho has illustrated it. The storyline is similar to the drama where two high schoolmates meet after a long time as adults.
The description of the webtoon reads, “A love story that still excites, wanting to believe ‘coincidence’ as ‘fate’! For some, the heart-fluttering moment of first love passes by like a coincidence. For others, the moment coincidence becomes fate, they board the train called love together.” A six-volume webtoon was released on February 20, 2023.
Meanwhile, Serendipity’s Embrace K-drama is directed by Song Hyun-Wook. The cast includes Kim So-Hyun, Chae Jong-Hyeop, Yun Ji-On, and Kim Da-Som in the lead roles. Furthermore, the supporting actors are Yoon Jun-Won, Hwang Sung-Bin, Lee Won-Jung, Choi Dae-Chul, Yoon Jung-Hee, and Kim Jung-Nan.
It will premiere on July 22, 2024, airing new episodes every Monday and Tuesday. Consisting of eight episodes, the series will air on tvN and stream on Viki.
