Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy is all set to wrap up the series with its final season hitting the screens in August. Fans caught the first look of the upcoming season in the newly dropped trailer and questions began pouring in about Sloane’s absence in it. Does this mean that Genesis Rodriguez’s Sloane won’t be returning for the final season or is it a prelude to a bigger surprise?
With a month left before we finally get the answers as to why Sloane is not seen in the trailer, here is a brief overview of what we know so far.
Why Sloane is still missing from The Umbrella Academy Season 4 trailer?
The previous season of The Umbrella Academy ended with some major cliffhangers. After the Umbrellas were transported to a different timeline after the reset, they lost all their powers with Sloane disappearing from the scene. Luther is alive and well in this new world and Five’s arms are intact. The trailer not having Sloane is indicative of her still missing.
The final episode of Season 3 saw the Umbrellas reach the Hotel Oblivion which houses the device built by Reginald that can reset the entire universe and its timeline. As Five warns Viktor about Allison’s plans, a fight breaks out between the team and Reginald, who calls in the Guardians. Although the team defeats them, some jaw-dropping facts are revealed in the process.
Reginald’s treachery comes to light as well as Allison’s deal with him. In the ongoing tussle when the group is forced to step into the seven-star symbol, Allison realizes that they will be killed. She wastes no time in killing Reginald and hitting the reset button which sends the group where they are now, with Sloane missing without a trace.
Is Luther not looking for Sloane in The Umbrella Academy Season 4?
It is unlikely that Luther will give up on Sloane so easily. Throughout the series, we have seen Luther go through some terrible predicaments in his personal life before he meets Sloane. At the end of the previous season, we saw Luther desperate to find her as the Umbrellas go their separate ways. Until the new season arrives there is no way of telling whether he will succeed in this enterprise.
Will Genesis Rodriguez’s Sloane return in The Umbrella Academy Season 4?
As mentioned above it is difficult to predict the fate of Sloane in the series finale, as there were no hints dropped about her whereabouts. Fans must wait for Season 4 to arrive to know if Genesis Rodriguez is returning as Sloane.
Having said that, the fandom has been quick to cook up several theories in an attempt to answer what has happened to Luther’s wife. Some believe that in the new timeline where the Hargreeves siblings ended up, Sloane has lost all her memory because Allison wanted it that way. Another suggests that she doesn’t even exist in this timeline. However, these are only fan theories so there is no way of knowing what will happen to her in the upcoming season. All we can hope for is that The Umbrella Academy has planned an epic conclusion to this brilliant chronicle.
