Here’s everything to know about the circumstances surrounding Adrian Wilson’s arrest.
Why did Adrian Wilson get arrested?
Adrian Wilson was arrested on domestic violence charges.
Adrian Wilson, a former star player for the Arizona Cardinals and ex-executive for the Carolina Panthers, was arrested on June 1 in Scottsdale, Arizona, as per the New York Post. The charges include assault, property damage, and disorderly conduct, all classified as misdemeanors and related to domestic violence, according to the Scottsdale Police Department. The arrest occurred at Wilson’s home early in the morning, leading to a court date set for July 16.
According to police, upon returning to his Scottsdale home on June 1, Wilson discovered separation papers from his wife, as reported by ESPN. She informed police she had hired a private investigator and discovered Wilson was having an affair.
Upon finding the papers, Wilson entered his wife’s bedroom while she was sleeping and became physically aggressive, causing damage. His wife reported that he pinned her to the bed and attempted to choke her. However, she managed to break free. She further stated that Wilson retrieved a gun from a safe and threatened suicide. Eventually, he left the house with the gun and contacted family members.
The news of Wilson’s arrest emerged shortly after the Panthers confirmed his departure as their V.P. of player personnel. The exact timing of his exit from the Panthers and its connection to the incident in June remains uncertain.
As per AP News, the statement said, “Adrian Wilson will not continue in his position as Vice President of Player Personnel for the Carolina Panthers.” It further states, “Consistent with our organizational policy on employee matters, we will have no further comment.”
Wilson, an NFL veteran and former safety for the Arizona Cardinals, transitioned to a front-office role, according to Reuters. In 2021, he became the Cardinals’ vice president of pro scouting. In 2023, Wilson joined the Carolina Panthers as vice president of player personnel.
