The Player 2: Master of Swindlers Ending Explained & Episode 12 Recap

The Player 2: Master of Swindlers episode 12 aired on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, on tvN and Viki. Starring Song Seung-Heon and Oh Yeon-Seo, the action-crime K-drama released the finale featuring a final battle between the protagonist and villain.

In the previous episode, drug lord Jeffrey Jung (Bu Bae) assumed his plan to scam innocent people worked. He also thought he had played Kang Ha-Ri (Seung-Heon) and his swindlers’ team. However, Ha-Ri and President Choi Sang-Ho turned the tables as they revealed Jeffrey’s name to the media for the bombing and illegal fund cases.

The Player 2: Master of Swindlers episode 12 (finale) begins with a flashback featuring Ha-Ri and Sang-Ho. Pointing a gun at the president, Ha-Ri asks about his relationship with Jeffrey. Sang-Ho replies, “He wants to use me and I want to eliminate him.” He explains to Ha-Ri that he grabbed the powerful position to expose the drug lord. As the flashback ends, Sang-Ho admits to accepting illegal funds from Jeffrey at a press conference. Simultaneously, Ha-Ri informs the media that the mastermind behind the bombing at the festival is Jeffrey.

What happens in The Player 2: Master of Swindlers Episode 12?

The Player 2: Master of Swindlers episode 12 shows Ha-Ri and Sang-Ho laying a trap for Jeffrey. The latter becomes frustrated as his plan to gain the public’s support goes downhill. Meanwhile, Ha-Ri’s team, including Soo-Min (Yeon-Seo), Jin-Woong, Byung-Min, Jae-Yi, and In-Sik, decide to catch Jeffrey and set Ha-Ri free.

While the team manages to bring their leader home, news breaks out that President Sang-Ho has been assassinated. Jeffrey receives a call from his subordinate that the president is no more. Prosecutor Do-Soo lashes out at Ha-Ri after the news and does not want to cooperate with his plans. As he is about to leave, Sang-Ho enters the room, leaving Do-Soo in shock.

Meanwhile, Jeffrey’s men have kidnapped Soo-Min and used her as bait to lure in Ha-Ri. Before him, Sang-Ho tries to rescue her and surrenders himself to the villain. Jeffrey’s subordinate stabs the president in front of her and sends the video to Ha-Ri.

Ha-Ri becomes scared and furious at Jeffrey and rushes to save Soo-Min and the bleeding president. After many attempts, the team finds the location where their friends are kept hostages. While Ha-Ri and In-Sik fight the goons, the rest try to find Jeffrey. 

Although Ha-Ri finds Soo-Min, they struggle to flee the place because of timer bombs. The rest of the team hears a big explosion from Ha-Ri’s end. Despite being devastated, they move forward with the plan and fight Jeffrey’s goons. The next scene features Ha-Ri successfully saving Soo-Min and Sang-Ho but intentionally creates an explosion to fool his enemies.

The Player 2: Master of Swindlers ending spoilers

While the swindlers’ team fights the goons, Ha-Ri and Jeffrey face off in an intense fight. Once Jeffrey is caught, Jae-Yi points a gun at him to seek revenge for her sister Ah-Ryung’s death. For context, the villain killed her in episode 1.

Finally, Do-Soo arrests Jeffrey, and the story moves towards a happy ending. President Sang-Ho surrenders to the police and serves his time in jail. Soo-Min has become a lawyer and maintains a close relationship with Sang-Ho. The rest of the team also do well. Before Ha-Ri’s update, the episode builds an intense environment featuring a woman in high heels passing through prison gates.

Lee Sung-Kyung’s entry teases The Player 2: Master of Swindlers Season 3

Actress Lee Sung-Kyung makes a guest appearance in the end. She visits Jeffrey in prison, which implies that they have known each other for a long time. He even takes a sigh of relief, assuming she has come to save him. However, the mysterious woman reveals her intention and kills him cold-blooded. When the news reaches Ha-Ri, he reunites with his team. 

The ending of The Player 2: Master of Swindlers hints at season 3. It appears Sung-Kyung will be the antagonist in the upcoming installment. Meanwhile, viewers can watch season 2 on Viki.
