Star Wars: The Acolyte Episode 6, titled “Teach / Corrupt,” finally sheds some light on Qimir (Manny Jacinto) and his past, though much of it still remains in darkness. As he tries to coax Osha into becoming his acolyte, he gives her bits and pieces of information about his life. He reveals that he was a Jedi before embracing the Dark Side. This has made the viewers wonder whether his master was Koril, a Jedi, or some other individual.
Here is everything we know about who Qimir’s master can be.
Is Mother Koril Qimir’s master in Star Wars: The Acolyte?
Although it’s unlikely that Qimir / the Stranger received any lessons from Koril or the other witches of Brendok as he is a human male, there might be some connection between him and the coven. The witches clearly explore an aspect of the Force that the Jedi consider a part of the Dark Side.
Qimir might have been on Brendok 16 years ago during the massacre. In episode 3, there is an unexplained distant creaking that draws the attention of the coven members. Koril also notices what is presumably an unusual crackling of electricity in the coven’s power system. Further, toward the end of the episode, Mae survives despite falling into a massive ravine. It’s possible that someone helped her, and this someone could have been Qimir.
Is Darth Tenebrous Qimir’s master in The Acolyte?
Qimir identifies himself as a Sith and seeks to adhere to the Rule of Two. So, we can assume that he had a Sith Master. This individual can’t be Plagueis or Venamis (who is yet to make an appearance in the canon), as the timelines don’t match, so it’s probably their master, Darth Tenebrous.
Alternatively, Qimir may have no connection with Tenebrous and sought out the Dark Side of the Force by himself. He refers to the Rule of Two as the Power of Two and probably learned about Darth Bane and his philosophy by reading the Jedi accounts of them.

Since Bane’s death, the Jedi have falsely believed that they have eradicated the Sith. In episode 6, Qimir implies that he was thrown out of the Jedi Order. Perhaps, he embraced the Dark Side afterward and desires to find an acolyte to adhere to Bane’s philosophy.
Who was Qimir’s Jedi master in The Acolyte?
The sixth episode heavily implies that Qimir’s master was Vernestra Rwoh. She uses a lightsaber that effectively acts like a whip, and the marks on Qimir’s back were likely made from the same weapon. After all, Qimir does mention to Osha that those marks were inflicted on him by someone who threw him away.
Additionally, while investigating what happened on Khofar, Vernestra seems to realize something. As Mog Adana speculates that a powerful Jedi has fallen and killed his fellow members of the Order, Vernestra abruptly murmurs, “Something to tip the scales.” Perhaps, she suddenly remembers her former Padawan and one of the conversations they had. Given that she was born on 248 BBY, she fits the timeline of being Qimir’s Jedi master.
However, viewers would have to wait until the true identity of Qimir’s master is revealed. With two more episodes scheduled to premiere, this revelation is anticipated in the coming weeks.
