Young Avengers: Has Marvel Canceled The MCU Movie?

Recent rumors have suggested that Marvel has already canceled their proposed Young Avengers movie. The foundation for the said film was laid in The Marvels, which saw Iman Vellani’s Ms. Marvel coining the idea of teaming up with Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop toward the movie’s conclusion. Consequently, fans are eager to know if the MCU officials have drawn the curtains on this interesting project.

Here are all the available details regarding the fate of the Young Avengers movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Has Marvel canceled MCU’s Young Avengers project?

At the time of writing, Marvel has yet to greenlight a Young Avengers movie. Consequently, there is no official news about the potential dismissal of the film.

Speculations regarding such a movie took flight after multiple hints were dropped in several Phases 4 and 5 projects of the MCU. The biggest setup surrounding the possible team-up of young superheroes was established in The Marvels, which brought Ms. Marvel face-to-face with the sharp-eyed Kate Bishop. Nevertheless, the upper management of Marvel has not shared any updates about Young Avengers to date. Fans still don’t know if the project is being developed for a theatrical release or a Disney Plus series.

As a result, it is difficult to say if a Young Avengers movie has been canceled by the MCU executives.

Will the Young Avengers assemble in Avengers 5?

Once again, nothing regarding the appearance of Young Avengers in Avengers 5 can be said with absolute certainty. However, their MCU debut seems more likely to occur in the upcoming Avengers installments rather than in a stand-alone film.

Currently, the future of a Young Avengers movie looks bleak at best. Kathryn Newton, who portrayed the character of Cassie Lang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, is one of the candidates touted to join the roster of the young superheroes. However, media outlets like CoveredGeekly have speculated that the Abigail star could be joining James Gunn’s rebooted DC universe soon. Moreover, Marvel has recently updated their plans following the catastrophic failure of The Marvels. According to IGN, Disney CEO Bob Iger has revamped the MCU schedule to only feature three movies and two shows per year. This could mean that a Young Avengers movie might have been canceled by the Marvel hierarchy even before its announcement.

More updates about the project are expected to be addressed in the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con.
