In the previous episode, Kang Ha-Ri (Seung-Heon) changed his identity and entered the good books of a cult leader, Lim Sang-Rik (Heo Sung-Tae). This time, the mission was Sang-Rik’s arrest, as he was responsible for illegal practices, including organ trafficking and other crimes. The episode ended with Sang-Rik attacking Jung Soo-Min (Oh Yeon-So) in his room.
The Player 2: Master of Swindlers episode 9 begins with the cult leader’s bodyguard rushing into his room. He informs Sang-Rik that a prosecutor has arrived to arrest Soo-Min for investment fraud charges. It appears that prosecutor Do-Soo has faked the arrest to save Soo-Min.

After Soo-Min is saved in The Player 2: Master of Swindlers episode 9, she reunites with her team. Ha-Ri and others discuss the plan to catch Sang-Rik and learn the location of the holy ground. It is a place where the cult leader has hidden his possessions earned through illegal activities. Moreover, the place holds many people hostages who are later used for organ trafficking.
When one of Sang-Rik’s employees is held in the cell for the same purpose, he escapes. Later, the swindlers’ team gets hold of him to learn the holy ground’s location. Meanwhile, Sang-Rik seeks Ha-Ri’s help for his upcoming live session with his followers. During the live, he talks about his beliefs to the camera. However, the video that is presented to his followers is different. It features the interaction between him and Soo-Min.
Before the cult leader had attacked her, she hid a camera in his room. It captures his confession of killing people and trafficking the organs. As soon as the video releases, Ha-Ri pretends to save Sang-Rik and asks him to hide in the holy ground. The swindler player switches on a hidden camera so that his team can locate and collect evidence.
Song Seung-Heon’s identity is revealed
While rushing to the holy ground, Sang-Rik gets into a car, and Ha-Ri jumps in to be the driver. Before getting into the vehicle, Sang-Rik receives a text message. He shows it to the swindler player in the car and calls his real name, “Kang Ha-Ri.” It seems his identity has been revealed. Meanwhile, Ha-Ri’s team members become worried about his kidnapping incident.
Ha-Ri is tortured when Sang-Rik confronts him. The cult leader then sends him to the cells in the holy ground and asks his men to burn the place. Meanwhile, Ha-Ri’s team uses one of Sang-Rik’s employees to learn the location of the holy ground. While Jin-Woong helps Ha-Ri fight the guards at the cells, Do-Soo and others catch Sang-Rik. Soo-Min finds a holy book in one of the cult leader’s possessions. When she opens it, a pen drive is hidden inside.

The Player 2: Master of Swindlers episode 9 ending shows Soo-Min looking into the pen drive. Meanwhile, prosecutor Jang In-Gyu calls Ha-Ri for an urgent meeting. In-Gyu seems to have found out important information. But before he meets Ha-Ri, someone attacks him and steals the evidence.
On the other hand, Soo-Min watches a clip through the pen drive. It shows President Choi Sang-Ho shaking hands with drug lord Jeffrey Jung (Bu Bae). For context, Soo-Min works for Sang-Ho as he is a father figure in her life. She confronts the president, leaving the latter in shock. Episode 9 of the K-drama ends with a flashback in which In-Gyu explains an incident to Ha-Ri. It seems it is related to Soo-Min’s past.
