The ongoing Chinese drama The Princess Royal released episode 13 on July 1, 2024. As seen in the official trailer, it follows the story of Li Rong (Zhao Jinmai) and Pei Wenxuan (Zhang Linghe), who marry each other for the second time after being reborn. The much-anticipated show secured high reservations before airing. Episode 13 focuses on Li Rong and Wenxuan investigating the Qin family case.
In this episode, Li Rong and Wenxuan wait in front of the Hanqiu Palace to meet with the Emperor. While waiting, the former asks for a favor from the latter. She wants him to arrange a meeting with Su Rongqing at the bureau. Although Wenxuan gets jealous, he doesn’t want to show it. He avoids making any sort of promise to her.
Meanwhile, Li Chuan receives information from Feng Ming that Qin Zhenzhen was seen at the princess’s palace. Seeing him getting all worked up about Zhenzhen alarms Feng Ming. She advises him against being public about his relationship with her. If the noble families even get a hunch about their relationship, they will team up against the Qin family.

Li Rong presents a memorial to the Emperor, asking him to grant her an official position. When the Majesty asks her what her plan is or if she can bear so much responsibility, Wenxuan takes her side and answers for her. He assures the Emperor that he is going to be there to back her up.
Li Rong is worried that her father is going to decline her request. Wenxuan plans to direct all the issues towards himself so the Emperor doesn’t see his daughter in a bad light. His answer impresses Li Rong.
In the evening, the Head Eunuch brings the news that the Emperor has granted Li Rong’s request. Furthermore, he has offered to let her establish the inspectorate office and grant three more fiefs if she can come up with a good justification. The Eunuch advises Li Rong to be careful, as the mixed blessing can put her in danger.
Zhang Linghe assists Zhao Jinmai’s investigation
Qin Zhenzhen meets up with the princess, who offers her to be her protector as she is a skilled martial arts practitioner. Li Rong needs help to investigate the Qin family case in detail. After the investigation is over, Zhenzhen will have to leave Huijang and go to the far north to set up a branch of the Inspectorate Office. She will also have to leave her old identity behind and will be known as Xun Chuan. Meanwhile, Li Chuan bids a tearful farewell to Qin Zhenjuang.
Then, the episode shows Rongqing visiting his father, bearing orders from the Emperor. His father is confused about whether the Majesty wants to unite or separate the noble families. He is sure that Rongqing will never betray his own family. Rongqing worries that the Emperor or the Shangguan family won’t let the Su family stay uninvolved.
Furthermore, Li Chuan is relieved to know that Qin Zhenzhen is unharmed. He trusts his sister, even when she refuses to disclose the details of the investigation to him. Meanwhile, Li Rong and Wenxuan continue to bond as he helps her during her investigation. He helps her convince the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Revenue, and the Censorate to cooperate with her. But Li Rong is disappointed to learn that Rongqing refused to get involved.
Meanwhile, Shangguan Ya pledges her allegiance to the princess. She promises to support her if she becomes the leader of the clan. However, the Shangguan family accuses the Qin family of treason at the court and asks the Emperor to annihilate them. Qin Zhenzhen risks her life in front of a crowd of people to convince Li Rong to help her family.
What happens in The Princess Royal episode 13’s ending?
Li Rong pleads on behalf of the Qin family. Although the head of the Shangguan family opposes it, Li Chuan and Wenxuan vote in favor of Li Rong and convince the Emperor to let Li Rong handle the case.
Li Rong and Wenxuan go on to search the Su household as part of the investigation. Su Rongqing threatens to bring up this matter in front of the Emperor.
