According to Today.com, the Bridesmaids actress gradually lost her weight in five years. During an interview with Breakfast Club Power 105.1 FM back in 2018, she mentioned that there was no hurry.
“I think everybody’s always kind of working on something. And I was like, ‘If I can de-stress and just do it slower and stop constantly trying to be on something.'” McCarthy said. “And then it actually worked better instead of being like, ‘I’m gonna not do this and do this and only drink this,'” she added.
According to Hello! Magazine, there are speculations about McCarthy using Ozempic, a drug for type 2 diabetes that Hollywood celebrities have been taking for weight loss. However, these rumors remain unsupported.
During a 2023 interview with People magazine, McCarthy recalled that after being cast on Gilmore Girls, she went on an all-liquid diet under the supervision of a doctor. Although she lost around 70 lbs in four months, she has no intention to repeat that experience. “I’d never do that again. I felt starved and crazy half the time,” McCarthy said.
In the following years, McCarthy has come to regard her weight as not an important issue. “I’ve been every size in the world,” she told US Weekly in 2013. “Parts of my twenties, I was in great shape, but I didn’t appreciate it. If I was a 6 or an 8, I thought, ‘Why aren’t I a 2 or a 4? Now I feel like I have two great kids and the dreamiest husband on the planet, and everything else is just a work in progress.”
