Kalki 2898 AD Age Rating: Is It Safe for Kids?

Kalki 2898 AD, one of the most highly anticipated movies of the year, finally hit theaters worldwide on June 27, 2024. Directed by Nag Ashwin, this film features a star-studded cast including Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Hassan. With the storyline kept under wraps, many parents are curious about its age rating and whether or not it is safe for children.

What is Kalki 2898 AD movie age rating?

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in Hyderabad has given the Telugu version of Kalki 2898 AD a U/A certificate. This means the film is suitable for viewers above 12 years old, with parental guidance suggested for younger children. The CBFC did not require significant cuts, but it mandated a disclaimer at the beginning, emphasizing the fictional nature of the content.

Despite the film’s violence, its foundation in Hindu mythology might encourage parents to consider it suitable for their kids. As of now, the age ratings for the Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, and Tamil dubbed versions have not been disclosed. However, any significant differences are unlikely.

The CBFC mandated the inclusion of a disclaimer at the beginning of Kalki 2898 AD. By doing so, the disclaimer ensures and clarifies the movie’s fictional nature and the creative liberties taken. It also emphasizes that the film does not intend to offend religious sentiments. The makers were also asked to specify the year 2898 AD in the movie. Furthermore, the term “Veedi” was muted when referring to Kaal Bhairava to avoid controversy.

Kalki 2898 AD boasts a runtime of 3 hours and 56 seconds, reportedly divided into two halves. The first half runs for 1 hour, 34 minutes, and 5 seconds, while the second half lasts 1 hour, 26 minutes, and 57 seconds.

Speculated to be a sci-fi retelling of Kalki’s story and the end of Kali Yuga, the movie spans an impressive 6,000 years, from the Mahabharata era to the year 2898 AD. Overall, Kalki 2898 AD blends Indian mythology with a dystopian vision.
