Chainsaw Man Chapter 169 Recap & Spoilers: Barem Bridge Confronts Denji and Company

Chainsaw Man chapter 169 was released on Tuesday, June 25, at 8 a.m. PDT. The chapter is available on Viz Media’s official website. Entailing the aftermath of Denji and Asa’s intimate encounter, the chapter takes Asa and company to a sushi restaurant, as had been promised to Denji.

Chainsaw Man chapter 169 was titled “Hands and Adaptation.” It began with Denji, Asa, Fami, and others arriving at a sushi restaurant called Sushishi. The restaurant is flooded with enthusiastic customers, setting a bustling tone within the outlet.

After the chef welcomes Denji and co., they sit down at the bar. Denji observes people from afar and remarks about them enjoying their food. At the same time, he wonders if they have shared an intimate moment with someone like he did with War Devil Yoru, aka Asa.

A sad Denji calls out to Pochita to tell him how a lot of awful things have happened to him, making him want to die. However, he finds himself dwelling on the delicious sushi in front of him. He also comments on his private moments with Asa, stating how it made his heart feel nice. As such, Denji contemplates his mood, wondering whether he is happy or unhappy at the moment.

Asa notices Denji as he sits quietly and proceeds to ask Fami if she could wait outside since there is nothing in the restaurant she can eat. Fami responds with her mouth filled with food, which makes her speech incomprehensible.

Right then, Haruka Iseumi contemplates whether they should enjoy the meal given Nail Fiend and Akoku are absent to look after their hideout. He turns to Higashiyama and asks if he will eat his meal, to which the latter replies that he cannot do so because he is unsure whether he will have to pay for it.

Haruki calls Higashiyama weird, but the latter defends himself by comparing his situation with Asa’s. He remarks on how Asa remains unwavering despite losing an arm. Moreover, he states how he would cry for a week if he had lost his arm.

Chainsaw Man chapter 169: Barem confirms Nayuta’s status

A stranger’s voice chimes in, stating that Asa’s situation is like that of an animal. To clarify, he adds that animals do not get sad when they lose a limb. All they do is adapt to the circumstances to survive. The chapter reveals this stranger to be Barem Bridge, who further comments on the devils’ inability to feel sorrow.

Haruki Iseumi recognizes Barem, but Nobana seems confused about the name. Haruki introduces Barem as the Chainsaw Man Church’s second in command. This prompts Denji to stare at Barem and rise from his seat with chopsticks in his hand.

Right when Denji is about to hit Barem with the chopsticks, Barem offers to take him to Nayuta. Given that Denji’s obvious weakness is Nayuta, the protagonist stops and sits beside Barem upon his command.

Pretending to have a normal conversation, Barem gives Denji advice on eating sushi. He asks him to take soy sauce and chopsticks. However, before he can proceed, Denji interrupts him to ask Nayuta’s whereabouts.

Everyone stares blankly at Barem, waiting for him to respond. Ignoring Denji’s question, Barem informs him that the Public Safety team has surrounded the sushi restaurant, and they will dismember Barem and Denji when they step out.

Barem offers a deal to Denji, asking him to save Barem and Denji in return for information on Nayuta’s location. Denji asks Barem what he needs to do to save him. The issue ends with the devil-human hybrid offering a plate of egg sushi to Denji, asking him to eat it before they proceed.
