Fans have been highly anticipating the upcoming Korean movie Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, starring Lee Min Ho and Jisoo. It is an adaptation of the popular web novel of the same name by Sing Shong. Redice Studio has adapted the web novel into a webtoon (Korean version), which Naver Webtoon has published. Thus, the movie is based on a webtoon. Redice Studio’s Sleepy-C illustrated the Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint webtoon. Meanwhile, Line Webtoon published an English version of the webtoon.
Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint movie: Is it similar to the webtoon?
Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint webtoon centers around the story of a simple office worker named Kim Dokja. He is fond of reading a novel titled Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse. When Kim Dokja finally finishes reading the novel, the novel’s world suddenly becomes a reality for him.
Now, he becomes the only person who is aware of how the world ends. Thus, he decides to go on a quest to change the course of the story with his understanding. He has to overcome several challenges and solve complex problems, all created by Dokkaebi (legendary creatures from Korean mythology).
Apart from Kim Dokja, the other central characters of Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint webtoon include Yoo Joonghyuk, Lee Jihye, Yoo Sangah, Jung Heewon, and Lee Hyunsung. The Korean movie adaptation of the webtoon is expected to follow the original story closely. Renowned filmmaker Byung Woo Kim acts as the director of the upcoming movie.
Per IMDb, Ahn Hyo Seop will portray the role of Kim Dokja, while Lee Min Ho will play Yoo Joonghyuk. Other than them, the film will see Jisoo as Lee Jihye, Nana as Jung Heewon, and Chae Soo Bin as Yoo Sangah. Actor Shin Seung Ho will portray Lee Hyunsung.

The original web novel by Sing Shong was first published on Munpia on January 6, 2018. It concluded on February 2, 2020. However, the webtoon adaptation of the web novel was first published in 2020 and is still ongoing.
