In the short time since The Acolyte’s premiere, Yord has become quite popular among fans, with many of them wondering about his fate.

Here is what happened to Yord in Star Wars: The Acolyte Episode 5.

Did Yord really die in The Acolyte Episode 5?

Yes, Yord really died in The Acolyte Episode 5.

By all appearances, Yord’s death in the episode titled “Night” is genuine. The narrative of this episode begins with Osha regaining consciousness and discovering one member of the Order is already dead, while the others engage Mae’s master. The number of the Jedi quickly starts to dwindle as the masked individual kills them one by one. He injures Yord, prompting Osha to intervene. When Mae’s master shifts his attention to Osha, she flees after Yord tells her to.

Eventually, Sol comes to Osha’s rescue and instructs Yord to take her back to their ship. However, on their way, Osha hears her sister calling out to her through the Force. She realizes that if they leave Sol, Jecki Lon, and Mae behind, Mae’s master will kill them all and convinces Yord to return to the fight with her.

Meanwhile, Jecki manages to unmask Mae’s master before she is killed. He is revealed to be Qimir, who declares that he is a Sith. As he faces Sol while holding Mae hostage, Yord tries to attack him from behind. However, Qimir parries the attack, making Yord’s lightsaber malfunction. Yord, in turn, hits Qimir’s lightsaber with the other man’s own helmet. He briefly recognizes who Qimir is, having seen him on Planet Olega in episode 2, before the latter snaps his neck.

While we don’t get an explicit confirmation about Yord’s death, Sol leaves Khofar without his body, heavily indicating that he is truly gone.
