The actor’s latest role as JJ opposite Junaid Khan’s Karsandas in the Netflix movie Maharaj has won many hearts. Despite the mixed reactions that the movie has received, fans are thrilled by Ahlawat’s performance. He recently revealed how he lost 26 kgs to play the role.

Jaideep Ahlawat recently took to his Instagram handle to share the before and after picture of his massive body transformation. The actor revealed that he lost over 26 kgs and wrote, “From 109.7 Kg. to 83 Kg. in 5 months. That’s the Physical Transformation for the Role of Maharaj.” He further thanked his coach for believing in him.

Fans are highly impressed and inspired by Jaideep Ahlawat’s weight loss. An Instagram user wrote, “I swear I thought the abs were photoshopped!” while another penned, “You are an inspiration.”

In an interview with ANI, Jaideep Ahlawat revealed how he was skeptical about signing Maharaj. He said, “In the beginning, I was doubtful about the part, if I would be able to do justice to it, but then I met the director, and the way he narrated the movie, I got some confidence.”

For the film, the actor underwent rigorous training for five months during the COVID-19 lockdown. He said, “Believing in the director and writer of the movie is the key to believing in yourself… After almost 5 months of physical training during the lockdown, I was able to play the part… I had to gel myself into the role with the belief of ‘I am god’ because that is what the character demanded.”

It seems that Jaideep Ahlawat’s weight loss and gaining a lean shape helped him confidently play the role.

Maharaj is currently streaming on Netflix.
