Hungary’s soccer superstar Barnabas Varga recently sustained a nasty injury in his team’s final group-stage match against Scotland at the UEFA Euro 2024. Consequently, the 29-year-old forward was stretchered off the field mid-game after receiving immediate first-aid from the stationed medics. Varga fractured several bones in his face and also suffered a concussion following his collision with opposing goalkeeper Angus Gunn.
Both Hungary and Scotland needed to secure a win in their last group-stage match to keep their hopes of advancing alive. With the game still tied in the 71st minute, a cross directed toward Varga was supplied into Scotland’s box. However, in an attempt to reach the ball, the Ferencváros striker ended up colliding with the rival keeper.
