Alec Baldwin is considered to be one of the most influential actors working in the industry. However, his popularity took a massive hit after the shooting incident on the set of the film Rust. Per reports, the shooting took place while rehearsing a scene and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Subsequently, authorities charged Baldwin and the film’s armorer, Hannah Guttierrez-Reed, with involuntary manslaughter. In April 2024, the court sentenced Guttierrez Reed to 18 months in prison. Meanwhile, Alec Baldwin will go on trial on July 10.

After the incident, Alec Baldwin released a statement and called the shooting accident “tragic.” In an interview with ABC, the three-time Emmy award-winning actor attributed the accident to Guttierrez Reed and the film’s assistant director, who handed him the gun. However, authorities charged both Baldwin and Guttierrez-Reed on the charges of involuntary manslaughter. Both the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.

In February 2024, the trial of Hannah Guttierez-Reed began, and two weeks later, the jury announced a guilty verdict. CNN stated that the court sent her to 18 months in prison. In May, the court denied the motion to dismiss the involuntary manslaughter indictment against Baldwin. Since then, Baldwin has kept himself out of the spotlight and made no appearance on any project. However, in June, Baldwin and his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, announced a reality TV series titled The Baldwins. The series will premiere on TLC in 2025.

As mentioned above, Alec Baldwin has kept himself mostly out of the spotlight, but he recently announced a new reality series, The Baldwins, on Instagram. The actor shared a video on his official Instagram profile and joking about the size of their family. “We have an announcement to make,” Hilaria said. To this, Baldwin replied, “Good God, no.” His reaction prompted Hilaria to reassure him, “No, definitely not! We’re done having kids.” The clip continued with Baldwin and Hilaria having a playful time with their entire family.

“We’re inviting you into our home to experience the ups and downs, the good, the bad, the wild, and the crazy. Home is the place we love to be most,” Baldwin said in the video. The clip concludes with Alec Baldwin, Hilaria Baldwin, and their seven children shouting, “We are the Baldwins.” Baldwin shares seven children with Hilaria, while he shares one daughter with ex-wife Kim Basinger.

Apart from this show, the actor has approximately ten projects in the pipeline, including Rust. According to his IMDb page, Kid Santa, Hollywood Heist, and Cold Desk are some of the projects that he is involved in.

When is Alec Baldwin’s Rust Trial?

The shooting incident on the sets of Rust happened in October 2021, and more than a year later, authorities charged Alec Baldwin with involuntary manslaughter. Citing the court documents, CBS News reported that the actor never addressed the safety violations on the set and didn’t attend “training in basic firearms safety rules.” The document read, “The evidence clearly indicates that Baldwin recklessly ignored these rules, on multiple occasions, resulting in the fatal shooting.”

However, in 2023, Alec Baldwin pleaded not guilty to the involuntary manslaughter charge, per CBS News. Almost a month later, the prosecutors announced that they would dismiss the charges against Baldwin because of the new evidence found. Finally, in October 2023, they recharged the actor again with involuntary manslaughter in the shooting incident. Correspondingly, Baldwin pleaded not guilty.

Citing court documents, CNN mentioned that the prosecutors would portray Alec Baldwin as someone who didn’t care about safety protocols. According to the Associated Press, the trial of Alec Baldwin will begin on July 9 with jury selection, with trial starting on July 10 with opening statements from both sides.
