Who is Daeron Targaryen in House of the Dragon?
Daeron Targaryen is the fourth child of King Viserys I and Alicent Targaryen and the younger sibling of Aegon, Helaena, and Aemond Targaryen.
In George R.R. Martin‘s books, Daeron was born in 114 AC. He was born shortly after the birth of his older half-sister Rhaenyra’s son Jacaerys Velaryon. Rhaenyra and Alicent never got along because Daeron and Jacaerys shared the same wet nurse, as King Viserys wished to avoid a similar dynamic between them.
Unfortunately, despite Viserys’ attempts, Daeron and Jacaerys developed a fierce rivalry and enmity, which was only worsened when they had to spend time with each other, whether it be at the same feasts or during training sessions.
Then in 126 AC, Daeron was sent to Oldtown to be the squire and cupbearer to his mother Alicent’s cousin, Lord Ormund Hightower.
In the books, Daeron played a significant role during the Dance of the Dragons event, where he got knighted, earning the nickname Daeron the Daring for his great warrior prowess. He became a considerable threat to Rhaenyra, as she considered him a big threat to her rule. Later, Daeron was seemingly killed during the second Battle of Tumbleton, though the circumstances of his death were unknown.
