It is unclear what happens to Nancy Lenehan’s Barbara. She is last seen being intimidated by Homelander and fans do not get to see what happens after that.
Homelander lasers Marty’s pelvic area leaving him to bleed out in revenge. This is because Marty humiliated Homelander by giving him the derogatory nickname “Squirt.” Barbara comes in and tries to stop Homelander. Homelander then kills Marty and invites Barbara to join him for a private conversation in “The Bad Room.”
Barbara tries to defend the actions of her colleagues towards Homelander when he was younger, claiming they were scared. Barbara’s tone then changes into something sinister as she gleefully reveals that everyone has been terrified of Homelander since his birth.
She then adds that Vought knew Homelander was physically stronger than all of them. He could only be overpowered mentally. She claims that the best psychologists around the world were hired to shape his character into desiring intense love and appreciation. This effectively created the Homelander fans saw in the earlier seasons of The Boys.
Homelander responds saying that he threw away his need for love only for Barbara to scoff at his response. Homelander then ominously offers to explain why he called the room they spoke in “The Bad Room.” This is after Barbara earlier denies his sentiments about the room.
