Now, Fans are curious to know whether Sarfira is a remake of the South Indian movie Soorarai Pottru.

Directed by Sudha Kongara, the trailer reveals that Akshay Kumar’s character struggles with financial stability but dreams of revolutionizing air travel. His goal is to sell flight tickets for just ₹1 (about $0.012) so that every person can afford them. However, the largest airline holder in the country rejects his proposal and insults him. Is Sarfira a remake of Suriya’s Soorarai Pottru?

Sarfira is an official Hindi remake of the Tamil film Soorarai Pottru, released in 2020 and directed by Sudha Kongara herself. Additionally, the makers mentioned in the trailer’s description that the film is inspired by the book “Simply Fly: A Deccan Odyssey” by Captain GR Gopinath.

Soorarai Pottru stars Suriya in the lead role, along with Aparna Balamurali, Urvashi, and Mohan Babu. Notably, Suriya’s film also features Radhika Madan and Paresh Rawal. The movie is inspired by the life of GR Gopinath, founder of Simplifly Deccan, an Indian low-cost airline.

Actor Suriya has reacted positively to Akshay Kumar’s Sarfira trailer via Instagram. He shared the trailer and wrote, “This is our respect to @capt_gr_gopinath sir, who inspired millions of Indians. Thank you @akshaykumar sir for taking @sudha_kongara’s story across our country and beyond! Proudly presenting the trailer of #sarfira.”

While Sarfira is a remake, anticipation for the film continues to build among the audience. Meanwhile, it will be intriguing to see how Akshay Kumar delivers the character of Captain GR Gopinath.
