Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Red Moon Pact 2024 Chinese Drama Ending (Episode 36) Explained & Spoilers

Starring Gong Jun and Yang Mi, the fantasy C-drama Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Red Moon Pact released episode 36 on June 11, 2024. Per the trailer, the drama follows the story of Tushan Hong Hong (Yang Mi), a fox spirit who makes a pact with Dongfang Yue Chu’s (Gong Jun) mother to save him from his enemy. Moreover, he grows up under her care and eventually falls in love. Along with their allies, they fight and dispel evil forces who pose a threat to them.

In the final episode, Hong Hong continues her fight against Shi Ji. The rest of the Tushan sisters and the other fox spirits face the evil forces who come inside their territory to attack them. A Lai soon discovers these humans are not normal and can not be killed. Meanwhile, Dongfang Yue Chu enters the sacrificial formation. However, to his surprise, the formation is impervious to his energy.

Hong Hong vows to take revenge on behalf of all the beings of all six realms who Shi Ji has wronged. For her greed, many innocent beings have suffered. Hence, Hong Hong plans to kill Shi Ji and absorb all her energy. On the other hand, Shi Ji plots to pass all her hatred and negative emotions onto Hong Hong’s body. She wants to destroy all the six realms protected by Hong Hong and for her to die with her.

In the next scene, Hong Hong comes face to face with her own replica. But unlike her, this dummy is filled with all the negative emotions. The evil dummy harnesses hatred and all the negative elements of this world, including disease, death, and crimes. Hong Hong challenges her, saying that no matter how much they try, love will always win over evil. With this, they have an intense battle.

Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Red Moon Pact ending focuses on Gong Jun & Yang Mi’s fight against the evil forces

While inside the sacrificial mandala, Yue Chu finally understands why Hong Hong removed the heaven and earth thread from his body. She did this to fuse his blood into a love seed so the grief tree could recognize him. That way, even in her absence, nobody will be able to sacrifice him.

Meanwhile, the real Hong Hong is killed by hatred, but Yue Chu saves her with the help of the tear of the void. The latter sacrifices his own vitality and unites the tear of the void to free Hong Hong of her pain. He confesses to being in love with her and promises to love her for all his life. Yue Chu gives Hong Hong the power of his blood with no fear of death. In the end, he fades into the sky.

Hong Hong combines her spirit power with Yue Chu’s spiritual blood to defeat Shi Ji. In the end, his hair turns silver after enduring heavy injuries. On the other hand, the spirit alliance also successfully defeats the evil spirits to protect both humans and spirits. After all the perils subside, the grief tree flourishes. The entire Tushan clan gathers around it to celebrate the arrival of Susu, Hong Hong and Yue Chu’s daughter. The episode also shows the possibility of multiple dimensions, with Hong and Yue Chu being stuck in a dimension different from the Tushan clan.

The Tushan sisters vow to care for Susu because they think Hong Hong has turned into a little child. She visits Susu as an apparition to remind her of her mission, which is to save the grief tree. She reveals that her and Yue Chu’s story will continue in another dimension. As Susu struggles to keep up with her studies, a Tushan spirit becomes her mentor. The spirit looks exactly like Yue Chu. Later, it is revealed that Hong Hong and Yue Chu’s story continues to unfold in two parallel dimensions.
