Star Wars: The Acolyte Episode 3: Why Did the Jedi Want to Take Osha & Mae?

Star Wars: The Acolyte Episode 3 explores Mae and Osha‘s backstory and reveals that the Jedi wanted to whisk them away to Coruscant and train them in their ways. However, fans are wondering why exactly did the Jedi want to train Osha and Mae, who were already being trained by the Force-wielding witches on Brendok.

So, what was the Jedi’s agenda behind taking Mae and Osha away for training? Here is your answer.

Why did the Jedi want to take Osha and Mae in Star Wars: The Acolyte Episode 3?

The Jedi, who did not disclose why they were on Brendok, do not explicitly state why exactly they wanted to take Osha and Mae away. However, it is very likely that they wanted to train both the girls to prevent them from falling to the dark side, which they suspected could happen because of Aniseya and the coven of witches’ mysterious and non-traditional Force teachings.

Moreover, it is also possible that the Jedi felt entitled to train Osha and Mae after sensing the Force within them. Their sense of entitlement probably stems from the Galactic Republic law, which states that Force-sensitive children must be surrendered to the Jedi at birth. However, it is important to note that the Brendok is not a member of the Republic.

The Jedi and the witches were also suggested to have a negative history with each other, not unlike the Jedi’s relationship with their mortal enemies, the Sith. This could also explain why the former were so insistent on training Mae and Osha.

The Jedi were ultimately successful in securing Osha as a student following her mother’s death, which was quite easy since Osha was on board with being a part of their ranks. However, they could not get her sister Mae to join them and she eventually succumbed to the dark side after separating from Osha and began serving a mysterious master.
