As per Hello, when Underwood was taking her dogs out for a walk, she tripped and fell. It resulted in a broken wrist and severe damage to her face. She was rushed to the hospital for urgent care and received 40-50 stitches above her lip and surgery for her broken wrist.
Speaking about the incident during The Bobby Bones podcast, the country music star said, “I was taking the dogs out and I just, I tripped. There was one step and I didn’t let go of the leashes. Priorities! So that’s why my left hand’s fine. But I went to catch myself and I just missed a step.”
In an interview with Vulture, Carrie Underwood discussed the challenges she faced following the stitches resulting from her fall. Beyond the physical limitations imposed by the stitches, Underwood detailed the unexpected impact on her in-studio vocal performance. Despite her desire to return sooner, Underwood acknowledged the mental toll the stitches took on her. She further acknowledged the moments of doubt regarding her singing abilities.
