Is S.W.A.T. Canceled or Renewed After Season 7? Will There Be More Seasons?

S.W.A.T. Season 7 had its season premiere on February 16, and the season aired its finale on May 17. The finale left a lot of fans wondering whether there would be more seasons of the show coming down the road, or if S.W.A.T. is now canceled.

Here’s everything you need to know about the future of S.W.A.T. and if there will be an eighth season.

Is S.W.A.T. canceled or renewed after season 7?

S.W.A.T. has been renewed by CBS for Season 8.

According to Deadline, fans will see another season of S.W.A.T. in the future. This comes after the show almost saw cancellation twice. Even though CBS previously announced Season 7 as the final season of the show, CBS renewed it for an eighth season during the run of the seventh season. It is also very likely that Season 8 will consist of a full set of 22 episodes.

Deadline also reported that the cancellation was due to license fee issues between Sony and CBS. However, they came to a conclusion, and Season 8 finally became a done deal.

In a statement, Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment said, “Here at CBS, we always ‘stay liquid’ and love a good dramatic twist, especially when it leads to an eighth season of S.W.A.T.!”

She further added, “The show continues to resonate with viewers thanks to our talented cast led by Shemar Moore and our amazing writers and producers who keep the show relevant and action-packed. We’re very pleased to renew it again and incredibly grateful to our partners at Sony, CBS Studios, and Shemar for working so closely with us to bring it back for next season.”

How many more seasons of S.W.A.T. will there be?

There has been no announcement about the future of S.W.A.T. after Season 8.

As CBS announced Season 7 as the final one last year, there could be a possibility that Season 8 will be the final one. However, there is no confirmation. Also, with Season 8 having a 22-episode run, there could be many new elements, characters, and storylines introduced. This could mean that the show may be able to continue and move into Season 9 if renewed again.

However, currently, Season 8 is the only confirmed chapter in the future of S.W.A.T.
