In late May 2024, it was announced that Bill Skarsgård would reprise his role as It or Pennywise in the HBO Max series Welcome to Derry, as per TheWrap.
The original announcement about the production happened in March 2022. In November of that year, Jason Fuchs and Andy Muschietti officially became the showrunners of the upcoming series. Andy Muschietti, who directed both Pennywise films, is helming four of the total nine episodes.
Filming reportedly started in various places in Canada, including Toronto, in May 2023. According to a Deadline report, Welcome to Derry is a working title. The original plan reportedly was to release the series in 2024. Now, it is slated to premiere sometime in 2025.
