Dark Matter Episode 5 came out on Apple TV Plus on May 29, and the viewers want to know its ending. Blake Crouch created the series from his 2016 namesake novel. The plot of the sci-fi thriller drama revolves around Jason Dessen (Joel Edgerton), a Chicago-based physicist. He one day finds himself in an alternate reality where he has made different choices. As he tries to get back to the family he has inadvertently left behind, Jason discovers that his biggest adversary is a different version of him.

What did Jason do at the end of Dark Matter Episode 5?
Jason 2 decides to seal off the box in Jason 1’s world, having learned that the latter is already searching for his way back home.
In episode 5, Jason 1 continues to look for a way that can lead him back to his world. However, as he isn’t entirely in control of his emotions, he and Amanda end up in different iterations of their worlds time and again. In one instance, they arrive in a world where Charlie died in an epidemic, and it is heavily implied that Daniela passes away while Jason 1 and Amanda are still there.
In another world, Jason 1 learns that he is incarcerated and that his family hates him.
This episode reveals that Jason 2 can control the box, though how he does it remains a mystery. When Jason 2 returns to his original world to get 50 ampoules to sell to Leighton, a Velocity Lab employee informs him about what Jason 1 and Amanda have been doing.
This prompts Jason 2 to go back to Jason 1’s world and make the decision to close the box there.
Who died in Dark Matter Episode 5, ‘Worldless’?
None of the main characters die in episode 5. However, as mentioned above, a version of Daniela presumably dies in a pandemic-ridden world. The same disease also killed that world’s Charlie before Jason 1 and Amanda got there. Additionally, Amanda learns that she is dead in the world where Jason is in prison.
