Many Mad Max fans must be wondering what happened to Furiosa’s Green Place of Many Mothers in Mad Max: Fury Road. The Green Place’s existence was hinted at and teased throughout Fury Road and was finally shown in all of its glory in the opening moments of the prequel Furiosa.

So what became of the Green Place of Many Mothers? Is it still there or is it all but vanished?

What happened to Furiosa’s Green Place in Mad Max: Fury Road?

By the events of Mad Max: Fury Road, Furiosa’s Green Place had vanished and become non-existent.

What was once a lush green and fertile land that could produce crops and sustain settlers turned into a muddy and barren environment with dead trees filled with many crows. In Mad Max: Fury Road, after escaping from the Citadel with Immortan Joe‘s wives, Furiosa, who teamed up with Max, arrives at a landmark known to her. She then spots a woman whom she recognises as Vuvalini and signals her to come down and meet her. The woman soon summons the other Vuvalini who arrive and greet Furiosa.

When Furiosa enquires about the Green Place, stating she was taking Immortan Joe’s wives there, she is told the tragic news that she had unknowingly passed by the Green Place. The place had become an uninhabitable swampland thanks to the atmosphere’s toxicity gradually contaminating the place and rendering it infertile and filthy.

Furiosa then changes her plan and decides to follow the Vuvalini along with Immortan Joe’s wives to the salt flats that was once the ocean, until Max convinces them to return to the Citadel, which one of the Vuvalini claims is perfect to start a new life and by extension make a new Green Place.
