IF Movie (2024): Is There an End-Credits or Post-Credits Scene?

John Krasinski’s IF is a heartwarming 2024 movie about Bea, a young girl who resolves to help imaginary friends, aka IFs, get back to the kids they bonded with. IF is a tent-pole film with a $110 million budget and has a star-studded cast. Accordingly, the fans are wondering whether IF has an end, mid, or post-credits scene that sets up a potential sequel.

Is there an end, mid, or post-credits scene in the IF (2024) movie?

No, there is no end, mid, or post-credits scene in IF. However, there is a tribute video that comes at the end of the movie.

In franchise filmmaking, mid and post-credits scenes are often used to tell fans that the story will continue in the next installment. While IF can become a franchise in the future, Krasinski and his team haven’t included a mid or post-credits scene to set up a sequel.

The IF movie end-credits tribute explained

IF’s end-credits video pays tribute to the late actor Louis Gossett Jr. In the movie, he lent his voice to the character named Lewis, an old teddy bear and one of the imaginary friends. After the credits stop rolling, a montage of scenes featuring Lewis appears on the screen, followed by a line that reads, “In loving memory of our friend, Louis Gossett Jr.”

Louis Gossett Jr. was a hugely popular theater and screen actor whose career stretched back to the 1950s. He received the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor at the 55th Academy Awards. This was for his role as Emil Foley in An Officer and a Gentleman (1982). He also won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor for a Single Appearance in a Drama or Comedy Series. This was for playing the role of Fiddler in the ABC miniseries Roots (1977).

Gossett passed away on March 29, 2024, due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other factors, at the age of 87. IF, which premiered on May 17, is one of his final cinematic performances.
