In late April 2024, Variety reported that Carla Gugino (The Fall of the House of Usher) will portray the Hollywood screen legend Vivien Leigh in the upcoming biopic The Florist. “I couldn’t be more excited about the opportunity to excavate a woman as complex, contradictory, and compelling as Vivien,” Gugino told the outlet. “From the moment I read the script, I knew The Florist was a journey I had to pursue.”
Leigh was one of the greatest performers of the Golden Age of Hollywood. She became a household name for portraying Scarlett O’Hara in Gone with the Wind (1939) and Blanche DuBois in A Streetcar Named Desire (1951). Both performances earned her the Academy Award for Best Actress (in 1940 and 1952, respectively). The Florist will reportedly take place in the 1960s.
