Aja Naomi King has joined Grosse Pointe Garden Society, an NBC drama pilot that includes Melissa Fumero (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), AnnaSophia Robb (The Carrie Diaries), and Ben Rappaport (Ozark) in lead roles alongside King.
The story centers around four members of a suburban garden club — Birdie (Fumero), Alice (Robb), Brett (Rappaport), and Catherine (King). They’re all from different walks of life, and they end up swept into murder and mischief while they struggle to find excitement in their conventional lives.
The pilot also features The Vampire Diaries alum Matthew Davis and Alexander Hodge (Insecure), the series is from Jenna Bans. Previously, Bans worked on shows such as Desperate Housewives, Grey’s Anatomy, and Scandal. She also created Good Girls, which is also a crime drama, and the short-lived mystery series The Family.
Grosse Pointe Garden Society hails from Bill Krebs and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group. Maggie Kiley is directing the pilot and executive producing with Bans via Minnesota Logging Co., Krebs, and Casey Kyber.
NBC has other pilots in the works, including a sitcom starring Reba McEntire and the high-profile Suits: LA project starring Stephen Amell.
