Is there a Black Sails Season 5 release date?
There is no Black Sails Season 5 release date as the series has ended after four seasons.
In 2017, Starz, the streamer behind Black Sails and the makers of the historical adventure series mentioned that the show had come to its natural conclusion after four seasons (via TV Line).
Series creator Jonathan E. Steinberg said in a statement “It’s a rare privilege in television to be given the kind of creative freedom we’ve enjoyed on this show over the last four years, While it was a difficult decision for us to make this season our last, we simply couldn’t imagine anything beyond it that would make for a better ending to the story nor a more natural handoff to [the story of] Treasure Island.”
Moreover, Carmi Zlotnik, Starz’s managing director mentioned in another statement that the fourth and final season was always meant to conclude the series saying “Jon Steinberg and Robert Levine, along with their crew and the phenomenal cast, have delivered a spectacular take on the most legendary pirate story in literature, and this final season will bring us to the shores of Treasure Island as was always intended…. We could not be more proud of this very special series.”
Additionally, in a 2017 Deadline interview, series co-creator Robert Levine mentioned that they always planned for the ending of Black Sails to immediately lead into the events of Treasure Island, saying they wanted to leave viewers at a place where they could finish the show and immediately start reading the first chapter of the Treasure Island book.
Black Sails’ cast includes Toby Stephens, Luke Arnold, Hannah New, Jessica Parker Kennedy, Toby Schmitz, Tom Hopper, Clara Paget, Zach McGowan, and Hakeem Kae-Kazim.
Why Black Sails Season 5 isn’t happening?
Black Sails Season 5 isn’t coming out because as mentioned above, the series reached its natural conclusion after four seasons.
The official synopsis for Black Sails reads:
