Manoj Bajpayee starrer Silence 2: The Night Owl Bar Shootout recently released on Zee 5. The murder mystery is a sequel to the 2021 film Silence…Can You Hear It?
Directed by Abhay Bharucha Deohans, Silence 2 also stars Prachi Desai, Sahil Vaid and Parul Gulati in her debut Hindi film.
The Zee 5 film revolves around ACP Avinash Varma and his team of talented officers. Much like the prequel, the team follows through a murder investigation to find the killer. The film is loosely based on real-life stories.
Who was Aazma?
Silence 2 opened with ACP Avinash investigating a deadly shooting at a bar that resulted in a lot of deaths. The victims included a woman named Aazma, who was the intended target. Aazma had recently been assaulted by a client due to a misunderstanding. She had secretly taken photos from the client’s laptop to blackmail him. The photos revealed the identity of Tara Sachdev, a girl who had also been brutally murdered in Jaipur.
It turned out Aazma and Tara worked for the same escort service, run by a cunning man named Arjun Chauhan, whose face no one had seen. While the investigation revealed that different people killed Aazma and Tara, the connection to the same escort service provided a critical lead. ACP Avinash and his team were working hard to find the killer, knowing that many other girls could be in danger, and felt the pressure of time in solving the case.
During the investigation, they learned about another girl named Amisha, a friend of Aazma. Amisha had initially agreed to meet with Avinash but had been murdered before the meeting could take place.
Who was the mastermind behind the trafficking operation?
Avinash had then learned that underage girls had been trafficked to Jaipur, and he successfully rescued them. From the rescued girls, he had gathered information about Piya and Gaurav, operatives in the trafficking network. Under interrogation, Gaurav revealed that Arjun Chauhan had been the mastermind behind the operation.
Further investigation revealed that Rizwan initially thought to be uninvolved, had been in the city at the time of Aazma and Amisha’s disappearances. He was also working for Arjun Chauhan. Rizwan confessed to his involvement and revealed a sighting of a murder at the Night Owl Club committed by a masked man he had assumed to be Arjun.
Following leads, Avinash investigated Rajiv Singh, who owned the courier company used to transfer money for the trafficking network. Avinash discovered that Rajiv was related to Arjun, being his brother-in-law. Arjun was arrested but was mentally challenged, casting doubt on his ability to lead such a complex operation.
Silence 2 ending: Who committed the murders?
Avinash then noticed a suspicious matchbox from Arti, Rajiv’s wife and Arjun’s stepsister, leading him to suspect her involvement. Upon further interrogation and investigation, Avinash found discrepancies in Arti’s alibi and began to suspect that Arti and Rajiv might have used Arjun as a scapegoat for their criminal activities. Finally, it is revealed that Arti is the murderer.
Arti had a tough childhood after her father left her mother. She went to a boarding school where she was bullied. Her father disliked her for being a lesbian as well. Soon, they learned that Arti had a stepbrother who was the heir to Chauhan’s fortune.
All these incidents piled up and made Arti hate his father and ruin his brother’s life. She planned the murder extensively to frame Arjun.
Silence 2 ended with Arti taking her own life after she was found guilty.
