After seeing a recent trailer for Batgirl (2024) with Jenna Ortega in it, fans have been left asking if it is real or fake. Is Ortega starring in DCU’s Batgirl movie as Barbara Gordon? Here’s everything you need to know.
Is Jenna Ortega’s Batgirl (2024) movie trailer real or fake?
The Batgirl movie trailer featuring Jenna Ortega is fake and fan-made.
The KH Studio YouTube channel posted the above teaser trailer for a Batgirl movie supposedly coming in 2024. It features footage from The Batman, The CW’s Batwoman, the DCEU’s Justice League, and The Suicide Squad. Among the actors appearing are Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, alongside a deep-faked Jenna Ortega as Batgirl.
Unfortunately for Batgirl and Ortega fans, the teaser is not real as the KH Studio channel is known for publishing fan-made concept trailers. Furthermore, no Batgirl movie was put in development with Ortega, Robbie, and Simmons. So, it won’t be coming out in 2024. Instead, James Gunn and Peter Safran are working on a different slate for their DCU projects.
Has Jenna Ortega been cast as Batgirl in the DCU?
Jenna Ortega has not been cast as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl in the DCU.
After Warner Bros. Discovery pulled the plug on Leslie Grace’s Batgirl movie, no other Batgirl film was put into development. Furthermore, James Gunn and Peter Safran’s upcoming projects including Superman, Peacemaker Season 2, and Creature Commandos will start and continue the DCU.
So, only the characters of all these projects have been cast, including David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and Milly Alcock as Supergirl, among others. However, Batgirl is not confirmed to appear in any of these projects. Hence, neither Jenna Ortega nor any other actress in that part has been added to the DCU yet.
