Swifties want to know whether Taylor Swift was booed at the Morgan Wallen concert. What happened, and why were country fans retaliating against her? Here’s all you need to know.
Was Taylor Swift booed at the Morgan Wallen concert?
Fans of Morgan Wallen recently booed Taylor Swift at the Indiana city’s Lucas Oil Stadium.
On Friday, April 5, Wallen made a comment which prompted boos from the crowd. Performing on April 4 and 5, Wallen announced that his concert posted the highest number of attendees at the Lucas Oil Stadium ever. He said:
“They told me right before I walked on stage that this is the single most attended concert in the history of this building, And that we’re the first people to do it two nights in a row, so thank you for making it possible for me to say that.”
Following that, he continued jokingly:
“I’m gonna say that ’til Taylor Swift comes to town in the fall.”
This statement was followed by countless boos from people in the crowd, to which he reacted:
“We ain’t gotta boo, we ain’t gotta boo. I appreciate that. I know ya’ll got my back.”
From there, he started performing One Thing at a Time, and the night went on.
Why did Morgan Wallen fans boo Taylor Swift?
Fans may have misunderstood that Wallen was joking, booing as a result of his suggestion she would break his attendance record, and do better than him in the area.
Taylor Swift or her reps have not reacted to this audience backlash. Even though Wallen defended the Bad Blood singer in his response to the crowd, the booing did not sit well with Swifties. Some Swift fans took to X (Twitter) to express their unhappiness over what happened, highlighting that Swift has been selling out stadiums in the US and abroad for over a year.
Now that she is gearing up for the European leg of The Eras Tour, it’ll be interesting to see the numbers her concerts begin to post from May 9, 2024, and beyond.
