After looking at a viral Overboard 2024 remake poster, people are wondering if it is real or fake. Has the film been shot? Who will appear in it? Here’s everything you need to know.
Is the Overboard 2024 remake real?
The Overboard 2024 remake is not real as its poster is fan-made.
The above Overboard remake poster started making rounds on Facebook, and went viral across other social media platforms, with fans asking whether it is real. The poster features Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey in the roles that were played by Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, respectively, in the 1987 original.
The poster also states that the remake is scheduled to arrive in July 2024. But we can be sure that this poster isn’t real as no Overboard remake has been shot or put under development by any studio. Hence, Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey aren’t starring in it, and we shouldn’t expect it to release in 2024.
Will a new Overboard movie ever be made?
A new Overboard movie isn’t confirmed to be made as it has already been remade twice in 2 languages.
First, the 1992 Bollywood movie “Ek Ladka Ek Ladki” directed by Vijay Sadanah took major inspiration from the 1987 Hollywood original. Then in 2018, Rob Greenberg directed a reimagining of Garry Marshall’s original film starring Anna Faris and Eugenio Derbez in the lead.
The remake wasn’t liked by many and the original film’s lead Goldie Hawn even said that it shouldn’t have been made.
She told Variety in 2023,”‘Overboard’ was really perfect just as it was. Very rarely does a remake match the actual original film. So I’m not a fan of remakes, period. I think that people have put their stamp on their movies, and if they’re classics, they should be left alone.”
Since one remake wasn’t appreciated, it’s unlikely for another to be made any time soon.
