The Godzilla x Kong box office prediction has arrived as the film closes in on its release. How much money will it make according to the early estimates? Will it beat Godzilla vs. Kong’s opening? Here’s all you need to know about its initial projections.
How much is Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire predicted to make at the box office?
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is expected to make somewhere between $41-50 million on its opening domestic weekend, and $135 million globally.
Box Office Pro’s long-range predictor stated the above numbers and added the film will make $91 million to $140 million at the end of its domestic box office run. Box Office Pro’s opening weekend range also matched with Deadline’s recent report, which stated a range between $45 million and $50 million.
This range is along the lines of Godzilla: King of the Monsters ($47 million opening). It is much more than Godzilla vs. Kong ($31 million day-and-date opening along with MAX), and far less compared to Kong: Skull Island ($61 million opening) and 2014’s Godzilla ($93 million opening).
As for the total domestic box office numbers, here are the MonsterVerse movie standings:
- Godzilla – $200 million
- Kong: Skull Island – $168 million
- Godzilla: King of the Monsters – $110 million
- Godzilla vs. Kong – $100 million
To add to the domestic projections, Deadline reports that $80M-$85M will be added through international markets on the first weekend, bringing the global opening estimates to around $135 million.
But whether GxK will prove to be a worldwide box office success remains to be seen.
Will Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire flop or succeed?
Considering that the MonsterVerse movies have mostly found bigger global audiences, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire could be another success for Warner Bros. and Legendary.

- Kong: Skull Island – $568 million
- Godzilla: King of the Monsters – $387 million
- Godzilla vs. Kong – $470 million
Compared to the domestic numbers, the international grosses have been extremely high, allowing the MonsterVerse movies to make back their $155-185 million production budgets and turn in a profit.
Looking at the international estimates, GxK is once again expected to perform well in markets including China, Japan, the United Kingdom, and others. So, it has the potential to be another global box office success.
