The trailer for Star Wars: The Acolyte just hit the internet, and it’s left some fans wanting to know what the series is about, and when it takes place. So, here’s all you need to know about the timeline and story of The Acolyte.
When does Star Wars: The Acolyte take place in the timeline?
Star Wars: The Acolyte takes place during the High Republic era when the Jedi Order was in its prime.
This is the official setting era provided by Starwars.com. As far as the years are concerned, the High Republic era was set between 500 BBY – 100 BBY.
But The Acolyte is confirmed to take place towards the latter stages of the High Republic era. This is about 100 years before Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace (32 BBY). So, it acts as the ultimate Star Wars prequel for viewers, taking place even before Tales of the Jedi (50 BBY – 18 BBY).
What is Star Wars: The Acolyte about?
Star Wars: The Acolyte is about a respected Jedi Master encountering a dangerous warrior from his past.
As per the official description, the series is “an investigation into a shocking crime spree pits a respected Jedi Master (Lee Jung-jae) against a dangerous warrior from his past (Amandla Stenberg). As more clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal all is not what it seems….”
Not much is known about the series’ characters yet. But besides Lee Jung-jae’s Jedi Master Sol and Amandla Stenberg’s antagonist, it stars Dafne Keen, Manny Jacinto, Charlie Barnett, Rebecca Henderson, Jodie Turner-Smith, Dean-Charles Chapman, Joonas Suotamo, and Carrie-Anne Moss in crucial roles.
Since it takes place several years before The Phantom Menace, not many familiar characters are expected to return. But since Yoda was alive during this era, it’ll be interesting to see if he appears in the show.
