While the hunt for the new James Bond actor continues, fans are wondering why Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s name has been tossed around for more than a year. Has he already been cast to replace Daniel Craig as the next 007? Here’s everything you need to know.
Has Aaron Taylor-Johnson been cast to replace Daniel Craig as the new James Bond actor?
UPDATE: E! News reports that Aaron Taylor-Johnson hasn’t been offered the 007 role yet.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson has reportedly been given a formal offer to be the new James Bond, but he is yet to sign a deal.
According to a source close to The Sun, “Bond is Aaron’s job, should he wish to accept it.” Additionally, a formal offer has been presented to Taylor-Johnson, and Eon Productions (which produces Bond movies) has already begun the prep work for the next movie.
The Sun’s source says, “The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back. As far as Eon is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days and they can start preparing for the big announcement.”
ATJ was quoted to be “an incredibly talented actor,” and the “perfect person to play Bond and will pick up well from where Daniel [Craig] left off.”
If The Sun’s reports are accurate, then ATJ is likely the next Bond. Numero magazine recently asked him about the Bond casting rumors. He replied, “I find it charming and wonderful that people see me in that role. I take it as a great compliment.”
The Bond contract is yet to be signed but with movies like Kick-Ass, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Bullet Train, Aaron Taylor-Johnson has shown potential to play 007. The upcoming Kraven movie will reveal whether he is a strong box-office draw.
Being attached to James Bond will possibly be his biggest career role. But needless to say, he has big shoes to fill. Whether his role will be officially announced in the coming days remains to be seen.
