The Roseanne series spinoff, The Conners, recently brought back an original series character. But will Roseanne Barr’s Roseanne Conner also make a comeback on the small screen? Here’s everything you need to know.
Is Roseanne returning to The Conners?
Roseanne is unlikely to return in The Conners following past events involving both the actor who plays her and her fate on the show.
The Conners’ family friend Crystal recently made a comeback to the Roseanne spinoff series, ‘The Conners’. But Roseanne’s return to the series is unlikely for two reasons.
After Season 9 ended in 1997, Roseanne got renewed for Season 10 in 2017 and premiered in 2018. But the renewal was abruptly canceled after actress Roseanne Barr’s controversial racist tweet (X post) about former Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett. Disney took no time to cancel the show. But since it was a hit series, The Conners spinoff series was launched without Barr and her character.
However, because of the fate of Roseanne Conner and Barr’s exit, it may not be possible for her to be brought back to the present-day episodes.
What happened to Roseanne on The Conners?
Roseanne Conner’s character was killed off in The Conners.
While other cast members including John Goodman’s Dan Conner, Sara Gilbert’s Darlene Conner, Michael Fishman’s D.J. Conner, and others returned in The Conners, Roseanne Barr’s Roseanne Conner was killed off.
In the first episode of The Conners, the family dealt with the loss of Roseanne Conner. It was initially presumed that she died of a heart attack. But the cause of death was later revealed to be an opioid overdose.
Hence, it’s unlikely for the character to come back after her demise. Roseanne Barr has mostly been out of the public eye and has expressed regret for her actions since. But the prospect of Disney letting go of her past tweet to allow a flashback cameo is very low.
