Fans are wondering if Eternals 2 has been canceled or delayed after rumors about its development status hit the web. Here is all that is known.
Has Eternals 2 been canceled or delayed?
The development of Eternals 2 has reportedly been put on hold.
According to reputed, but semi-reliable, industry insider Daniel RPK, the development of Eternals 2 has been put on hold. He revealed this via his Patreon channel (via X [formerly Twitter]). He further claims that Kevin Feige reportedly wants the film to be made. However, Disney CEO Bob Iger believes that it will be a guaranteed flop.
However, like with all of Daniel RPK’s other scoops, fans must take this information about Eternals 2 with a huge grain of salt. Afterall, this information does not directly come from Disney or Marvel Studios.
RPK also claims on his Patreon that Marvel is reportedly now focusing on fewer risks with their movies. This is so that they can get guaranteed hits after they suffered a string of box office bombs and failures in recent years. RPK mentioned that movies like Captain Marvel 3 and Ant-Man 4 will likely not happen as a result. This explains why Bob Iger reportedly does not seem keen on making an Eternals 2.
Will Eternals 2 be made and come out?
Eternals 2 has not been confirmed to be in the works as of this writing.
It remains to be seen whether an Eternals 2 will be made and released in the future as there has not been any concrete information on it as of writing.
However, that does not mean fans won’t get to see the Eternals again. If a February 2024 scoop from CanWeGetSomeToast is to be believed, the ten alien heroes are reportedly set to make a return in What If…? Season 3. The episode is reportedly titled “What If the Eternals Never Stopped the Emergence?”
