Fans are wondering if Cillian Murphy could be the next James Bond. This comes after new reports claim that he is the new favorite among Hollywood bosses to take on 007. Here is what is known.
Could Cillian Murphy be the next James Bond actor?
Cillian Murphy could reportedly be the next James Bond.
As per a new report from The Sun, Cillian Murphy is the new favourite to play James Bond.
The outlet states that higher-ups in Hollywood are looking for a new actor to play Bond. This follows Daniel Craig’s departure from the role after 2021’s No Time To Die. Thus, The Sun claims that Murphy is now being eyed by them. The interest follows his Oscar win for his dramatic turn as J. Robert Oppenheimer in 2023’s Oppenheimer.
Moreover, according to The Sun, Barbara Broccoli, the producer of the James Bond films, has been keeping an eye on Cillian Murphy for the past year.
Furthermore, Cillian Murphy has proven that he has the acting chops and range necessary to take on the calm and collected MI6 agent. A great example of this can be seen with his performance in Peaky Blinders.
Moreover, the idea of Cillian Murphy as James Bond has been entertained by two of Murphy’s co-stars in Oppenheimer. Clay Bunker and Christina Hogue have both claimed that the 47-year-old Oscar winner could do justice to the role.
Even former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan has given his seal of approval to Murphy as James Bond in a recent BBC interview.
However, Cillian Murphy himself does not feel inclined to take on the role. He recently claimed he is a bit too old to play the character during an interview on the Red Carpet for the Oscars. (via People)
