The end of Damsel sees Elodie allowing the dragon to take its revenge on the royal family by scorching them to death. This vengeance comes due to their deception of her for many years. The family shamelessly dishonored the blood pact made between both parties. The pact was originally made after the dragon’s hatchlings’ were murdered by the First Aurean King. This king then promised his three daughters as a sacrifice to the dragon in exchange for peace between them.
Instead, the first king deceived the creature by offering three unrelated girls. These three were made into Aurean royalty via a blood ritual. This deceptive practice which his successors including Isabell followed.
Elodie is then seen journeying home with Lady Bayford, Floria, and the dragon.

They did this through sacrifices by recruiting young girls to marry into the family and doing a blood ritual with said princesses to make the dragon believe they are part of the royal family.
