Madame Web got an overwhelmingly negative reception from audiences and critics alike. However, fans are curious about what the star of the film, Dakota Johnson, has said about the negative response. Here is how she reacted.
How did Dakota Johnson react to the negative audience response toward Madame Web?
Dakota Johnson has said that she is unsurprised by the negative response to Madame Web.
In a recent interview with Bustle, when asked whether she was bothered by the “nasty reviews” people on the internet wrote about Madame Web, the Fifty Shades star had an unsurprised reaction and said:
“Unfortunately, I’m not surprised that this has gone down the way it has.”
Johnson then expressed that she had not done a movie like Madame Web before and would likely not do anything like it again. However, she also admitted that being part of Madame Web was a real learning experience for her, saying:
“I probably will never do anything like it again because I don’t make sense in that world. And I know that now. But sometimes in this industry, you sign on to something, and it’s one thing and then as you’re making it, it becomes a completely different thing, and you’re like, wait, what? But it was a real learning experience, and of course, it’s not nice to be a part of something that’s ripped to shreds, but I can’t say that I don’t understand.“
It is no secret that some of the stars of Madame Web have little love for the film. Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney both roasted Madame Web in their respective appearances on Saturday Night Live.
Madame Web was a critical and commercial failure. The Spider-Man spin-off film has currently earned only $91.3 million against its $80 million budget at the box office. The film was widely panned for its weak plot, underwhelming villain, and poor visual effects.
