After seeing a recent trailer for a 2024 God of War movie, fans are wondering if it is fake or real. Is a film starring Dwayne Johnson as Kratos coming out this year? Here’s everything you need to know.
Is the trailer for God of War 2024 movie real or fake?
The recent God of War movie trailer for 2024 is fake and fan-made.
The Foxstar Media YouTube channel, which is known for posting fan-made trailers of potential upcoming projects, also posted the following trailer for God of War:
The above teaser uses footage from movies including Troy and Clash of the Titans and also adds scenes from the God of War game. It adds Dwayne Johnson’s face using deepfake technology to portray Kratos. But fans can be sure that the teaser is not official.
A God of War movie is not happening, so one can’t be coming out in 2024. Instead, a live-action series has been ordered for Amazon Prime Video. But it is not far along in its development process to have footage yet, as only the script is currently being written.
Has Dwayne Johnson been cast as Kratos in God of War?
Dwayne Johnson has not been cast as Kratos in the live-action God of War.
The actor is attached to many movies that are under development including a live-action Moana, a future Fast and Furious outing, two Red Notice movies for Netflix, and more. But his roster of upcoming projects doesn’t include God of War.
The live-action series is yet to cast its lead actor. Since it may not come out until 2026 or 2027, fans shouldn’t expect its lead to be announced very soon. But it likely won’t be Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson due to his already packed shooting schedule.
