What did Taylor Swift tweet about Damon Albarn?
After Damon Albarn said that Taylor Swift didn’t write her own songs, she called him out for making a false statement discrediting her writing.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times back in January 2022, Damon Albarn stated that he was more attached to someone like Billie Eilish, who is “a really interesting songwriter.” Meanwhile, he said that Taylor Swift “doesn’t write her own songs.”
Upon being suggested that Swift “co-writers” her songs, Albarn replied:
“That doesn’t count. I know what co-writing is. Co-writing is very different to writing. I’m not hating on anybody, I’m just saying there’s a big difference between a songwriter and a songwriter who co-writes.”
Replying to this, Swift called Albarn out for his comments with the above tweet (X post). She wrote that she writes all of her songs and dubbed his take to be “false” and “damaging,” calling it an attempt to discredit her work. She added, “PS I wrote this tweet all by myself in case you were wondering.”
Furthermore, producer Jack Antonoff also came to Swift’s defense saying:
“I’ve never met damon albarn and he’s never been to my studio but apparently he knows more than the rest of us about all those songs taylor writes and brings in. herb.“
Besides this, Albarn’s comments met with major backlash from many fans.
