Ever since 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, there hasn’t been a theatrical release for any Star Wars movie. But fans wish to know if any Star Wars outing will be released in cinemas in 2024. So, here’s all you need to know.
Will Star Wars movies be playing in theaters in 2024?
There are no Star Wars movies scheduled to hit theaters in 2024.
Lucasfilm’s 2024 release schedule for Star Wars titles only includes Disney Plus series releases. While Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 3 streams from February 21 onwards, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew and Star Wars: The Acolyte will most likely arrive in 2024 as well. Even Andor Season 2 could arrive in 2024. But 2025 might be a safer bet for the show due to 2023’s strikes.
But unfortunately, there is no movie release scheduled for 2024, or even 2025. Despite The Mandalorian & Grogu being confirmed to be shot later in 2024, it has been confirmed that the film will not arrive until 2026, which has two releases scheduled.
The next release date for a Star Wars movie is scheduled for May 22, 2026, which will be followed by a December 18, 2026 release. The former will likely be taken by The Mandalorian & Grogu while the latter will slot Daisy Ridley’s Rey movie, unless that gets delayed too.
But until 2026, we may not see any Star Wars movie release. Theaters and cinemas sometimes replay old movies in theaters. So, Disney could rerelease one of the older Star Wars movies theatrically in 2024 or 2025. But there haven’t been any reports of that happening at the time of writing.
Comingsoon will update the story if any Star Wars movie gets scheduled to release theatrically in 2024.
